The birthday card, castle Alice was sitting cross-legged on the living room floor. She was making a birthday card for her granny, not just any card. This was the best card she'd ever made. It had a sparkly pink castle on the front, a big rainbow and hearts instead of clouds. It was a proper royal masterpiece. On the floor beside her, sat, her favorite toy in the world, snuggle the unicorn. She was plush and peaceful. Her nose flopped onto a cushion. Pretending to be a regular soft toy. But we know better, don't we? Do you like my card snuggle? It has a rainbow. Your favorite snuggle didn't answer not until a chewy alice suddenly sneezed a mighty sneeze snuggle, blink to life ears, twitching and tail all a Did I hear a rainbow talk, she said, or was that a sneeze powered weather explosion? Alice laughed. You're awake. Look, I make granny a castle card. Snuggle inspected the drawing. Hmm. Excellent flags. Very twisty towers, but her eyes squinted. That rainbow looks suspiciously sparkly. Alice leaned in the rainbow shimmered more than it should. Then with a big zoom, the color stretched out like stretchy spaghetti and whipped all around them. Whoosh, snap swoop until thump. Alice, ground. Where are we now? Uh, I think we're in your drawing, Alice. They were exactly right there in front of the castle from the birthday card, pink towers, curly turrets, and a rainbow arched across the sky. Alice clapped. This is amazing. But then, oh, no, no, no. A voice echoed from the castle gates out came a woman in pajamas and one slipper. She looked very worried. You, she shouted. Unicorn child. I'm the forgetful queen, and I've forgotten where I put my shiny royal head thing. Snuggle. Gasped. Yes, the head thing. The queen shouted my crown. Without it, I can't open the birthday doors or start the music or do the special spinny dance. I can only perform my royal duties if I'm wearing my shiny crown. That's the rule. Alice scratched her head. snuggle took charge, right? We need to search everywhere. High, low upside, downside first, check the towers, the nearest tower hoofed. I've already been searched Thank you very much. It's definitely not here. I've even checked under my own stairs twice. Alice whispered. That's a talking tower. Snuggle whispered back. Well, we are inside a birthday card. The queen paste. Maybe I put it in the wibbly room or the upside down closet, or the place where spoons grow on trees. Alice tugged snuggles tail. Let's try the tallest tower. That's where I drew the crown sparkles. They climbed the spiral stairs that squeaked and whispered things like nice socks and watch your step noodle feet at the top of the tower, all they found was a telescope, a hammock, and a drawer that was labeled, definitely not the crown. Alice opened it inside, she found a rubber duck, three birthday hats. And a party blower, snuggle, peered through the telescope. Wait, I see something shiny stuck in the rainbow. Alice's eyes popped. It's the crown. It's on the rainbow. How did that get there? They ran back down the stairs out of the castle, and stood below the arching rainbow. It's up there. Alice said pointing. But how do we get on a rainbow snuggle pulled the ground. We bounce all good rainbow travel begins with bouncing. Alice took snuggle hand. All right. Bounce time. 1, 2, 3. They leapt and instead of falling, they floated up, up, up to the rainbow and landed neatly on the top of it. It felt a bit like jelly beneath them. At the tip of the top sitting all wonky and sparkly was the crown. They grabbed the ground on the way down and had the best slide of their lives round and round and round until they finally landed back on the grass. The Queen stood waiting for them in front of the castle. She was still only wearing one slipper. My crown. She squealed. She popped it on her head and immediately did a spin. The castle doors flew open. Confetti exploded from the walls. The trumpet song. Your birthday castle is ready. The queen, Curt seed. Thank you You may return to your world with honor. Having saved the day then zap. They were back in the living room just like that. Cards still in Alice's hand. No rainbow jelly. Just the memory of a missing crown at a talking tower. Alice blinked. And the card sparkled softly. Just a little. I hope Granny likes it. The end.
