Hey there friends. Welcome to Kids Story Portal, a cozy place where imagination runs wild here, ordinary things turn into big adventures. So get comfy because the story begins right now. The midnight picnic. once upon a time in a quiet house with creaky stairs and one socks stuck to the bedroom ceiling light, no one knew how. Alice and her little brother Freddy were supposed to be asleep, but they weren't. Yeah, they were in their bedroom, wide awake, whispering under their starry blankets. A rainy night fort of pillows, surrounded them with a flashlight glowing like a tiny moon. Alice was drawing sandwiches in her notebook. Freddy was chewing on the corner of his sleeve. I'm not sleepy, whispered. Ready? Alice nodded. Me neither. Maybe we need a midnight snack. Just then click, A soft sound came from behind the dresser. A very small sound like a teacup being gently set down. They both rose. Did you hear that? Alice whispered. Freddy pulled a blanket up to his nose. The sound came again. Click, followed by a gentle whistling. Sound like a kettle, almost ready to boil. Alice ran to the dresser there. Behind it was something impossible. A round little door about the size of a cookie tin with swirly golden trim and steam curling out from underneath. It hadn't been there before. Painted on the front in loopy letters were the words. Molly Broom Well's midnight Tea Time. guest welcome. Freddy's eyes got huge. I've never seen that before. Alice reached out and gave the doorknob a tiny turn and the door swung open. Inside was a spiral staircase and somehow far below was at the smell of cinnamon and jam. A cheerful voice floated up. Well, don't just peak my lovelies. It's nearly time for sandwiches. Alice looked at Freddy. Freddy looked at Alice and hand in hand. They crawled through the door straight into their nighttime adventure at the bottom of the staircase. They stepped into a kitchen inside a little cottage, but this was no ordinary kitchen. The walls were lined with teapots wearing tiny knitted hats, and the floor gently bounced like a soft sponge cake. Standing by the window was a kind faced woman in shiny boots and a cloak, the color of blueberry jam. She had a large pointy hat and a little teacup balanced neatly on a saucer. Well, hello there, she said, with a warm smile. I'm Molly Bromwell. Which of weather? And midnight picnics. She quickly opened a beautiful picnic basket and out floated little triangle sandwiches swirling around like butterflies. Some had cheese and apple slices. Others had sprinkles. One landed on Freddy's shoulder. Go on dry one. Molly encouraged it's peanut a butter. Alice took a bite. It tastes like Saturday mornings. Exactly right. Said Molly. Now come along. We're off to find a patch of sky for our next picnic. She opened the back door, and to their amazement, there was a broomstick floating there. Molly attached the picnic basket to the back of the broom and placed a full teapot on the front. It was steaming gently. Molly climbed on and patted the seat for the children. Hop aboard. Freddy hesitated. Are we going to fall? Oh no. Dear Molly chuckled. The broom is as steady as a table with four chairs, and it's got a great view. The children climbed up behind her. The broom gave a happy wiggle and zoomed up into the sky. They whooshed past rooftops and puffy clouds sailing through the starry sky. A flock of dream sheep flew by in slippers. A sleepy moon smiled at them. The children noticed it was getting a little bit cold just then the teapot on Molly's broom magically began pouring warm cocoa into tiny floating cups. Molly reached into her cloak and pulled out a little jar labeled cloud puff marshmallows, extra bouncy. Can't have cocoa without these, she said. Popping two into each cup. The marshmallow spun in slow circles, leaving sparkly trails behind them. Alice took a sip. Mm, that's so warm. Freddy licked the marshmallow off his nose. Happily There said Molly pointing to a cozy patch of starlight shaped like a giant marshmallow perfect picnic spot. The broom landed softly like a feather out came sandwiches, floating napkins, and a cake with three juicy cherries on top. Freddy took a big bite of something called a snuggle berry crumble. Alice poured more hot cocoa into their tiny mugs. They laughed, sipped and nibbled. Molly told stories about rainy day dragons and tea kettles that could predict the weather, This guy twinkled all around them. Then Freddie yawned, his eyes drooped. I think I'm sleepy now. Me too, said Alice. Stretching like a cat. Molly smiled and pulled out a soft patchwork quilt. Time to get you home. My starlings. They climbed aboard the broom once more, the teapot gave a final hiss, and off they glided down, down through sleepy winds and clouds until they reached the little door behind the dresser back in their bedroom. Molly took them into bed under their real blankets with stars. She gently placed a sandwich napkin on Freddy's pillow and a tiny spoon under Alice's. There she said, A little bedtime magic. In case you forget, will we see you again? Oh, almost certainly said Molly Midnight has many picnics left. She tipped her pointy hat, and disappeared back through the door, which softly clicked shut behind her. The next morning, the kids woke up to sunshine and the smell of fresh toast. Did we dream that Freddie asked. Sitting up, Alice opened her hand inside was a single sprinkle sandwich wrapped in a napkin that read. Thanks for flying with Molly Broom. Well see you soon. They grinned at each other and from that day on, they always kept a space behind the dresser clear, just in case a little door should appear because if it did, they'd be ready with their best pajamas and maybe a dressing going to keep warm. The end. That's the end of today's Adventure in Kids story portal. Thanks for imagining with us. If you like the story, please tell a friend so they can come along too.
